Reading and Development Outcomes

Sometimes we forget that simple activities for children lead to quality learning and development outcomes. We received an example of this from Pelican Childcare Lynbrook.

Early years Learning and Development Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners

The children in the Nursery 2 have been very interested in reading stories in the book corner.  In this photo you can see that Lilly is happily looking at the pictures and pointing at what she can see.  Having books and a quiet space to read them in the room (book corner) helps to develop the children’s knowledge of colours, shapes, literacy, numeracy, recognition and understanding (the list is endless).  It also helps to develop the children’s range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesizing, researching and investigating.
