####
Learning spaces for play and discovery

Children can move between outdoor and indoor learning spaces throughout the day. Outdoors, they can explore sandpits, a stage, fort, slide, cubby house and areas for drawing and craft. Indoors, interactive whiteboards and child-led experiences give children time to explore ideas, materials and interests in different ways.

####
Multicultural and long-standing educator team

Our multicultural educator team helps create a welcoming environment for children and families from many backgrounds. Some educators have been with the centre since it opened, bringing familiarity, stability and a strong understanding of the local community.

####
Individual Learning Plans

Individual Learning Plans are developed in partnership with families and reflect each child’s strengths, interests, routines and goals. Educators use these plans to guide everyday learning experiences and help children build confidence in ways that suit their stage of development.

####
Government-approved Kindergarten program

Our Government-approved Kindergarten program is delivered by Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers and helps children prepare for school. Children build early literacy, numeracy, independence and social skills through play-based learning, routines and group experiences.

####
Hey Dee Ho music and yoga

Children take part in Hey Dee Ho music sessions and yoga classes as part of the weekly program. These experiences introduce music, rhythm, movement, stretching and breathing, giving children different ways to build confidence and express themselves.

####
Fresh meals by our in-house chef

Our in-house chef prepares a rotating seasonal menu each day, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. Menus follow Start Right Eat Right guidelines and include a variety of cultural meals, helping children explore new flavours. During progressive mealtimes, educators sit with children to model healthy eating habits and encourage relaxed conversations. Dietary requirements, preferences, allergies and cultural needs are catered for.

####
Family communication and app updates

Families can stay connected through our family app, with updates about routines, play, learning and centre information. Educators also communicate with families throughout the day, helping families feel informed about their child’s experiences, progress and wellbeing.

"I believe in giving children time to explore ideas, ask questions, and build confidence through meaningful play and inquiry-based learning."

I’ve been working in early childhood education since 2011. My journey into this field began when I enrolled my 18-month-old child into an early childhood service. That experience opened my eyes to the impact high-quality early learning can have on a child’s development - and on their family. It inspired me to pursue my qualifications in early education. Throughout my career, I’ve been committed to providing children with an environment where they feel safe, respected, and inspired to explore. I believe that children benefit most from practices grounded in research and guided by genuine care. In my day-to-day practice, I strive to model respect, patience, and kindness - not just for the children in our care, but for the educators and families I work alongside.
Children are capable, curious, and incredibly motivated when given the right support and space to learn. I’ve seen first-hand how deeply they can engage in both short and long-term projects, producing thoughtful, creative work when they feel ownership over their learning. I believe in giving children time to explore ideas, ask questions, and build confidence through meaningful play and inquiry-based learning. My approach is centred on creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where children feel empowered to be themselves. I’m passionate about helping each child develop the confidence and skills they need for both school and life. At Pelican Craigieburn, we provide a space where children grow their social connections, self-help skills, and independence - all while being supported by a caring and professional team.
I often explain to families that while learning at home is incredibly valuable, a dedicated early learning centre offers unique benefits. Here, children engage in structured, play-based programs tailored to their development. They form friendships, learn routines, and experience a wide range of learning opportunities led by qualified educators who are passionate about what they do.
Our team at Pelican Craigieburn is made up of passionate, experienced educators from a wide range of cultural and diverse backgrounds. This diversity strengthens our approach and helps us create a welcoming space for all families. Each team member is committed to delivering high-quality care and education, and we work collaboratively to support one another and grow professionally.
Being a mother myself, I deeply understand how important trust and communication are between educators and families. I take the time to build genuine relationships by getting to know each child and family personally. Open, honest communication is at the heart of what I do, whether it’s sharing updates, discussing goals, or simply being there to listen and support. Families deserve to feel confident and included in their child’s learning journey, and I do my best to make that a reality every day.
I look forward to welcoming your family to our Craigieburn early education centre.

## Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Craigieburn, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

#### Sustainability

Children develop respect for the environment through gardening, recycling and nature-based learning. Educators also introduce the interconnected aspects of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic, through concepts like fairness, sharing and community.

#### STEM

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

#### Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

#### Independence and life skills

Children develop autonomy, interdependence, resilience and a sense of agency through meaningful participation in everyday routines, such as preparing snack, caring for plants, and tidying shared spaces.

I feel completely confident leaving my children here, knowing they are safe, loved, and supported every day.
The staff-child ratios feel appropriate, and the center is always clean and engaging, and with their inhouse chef cooking a variety of foods my children love Im one happy mum!
Highly recommend!

Once again they’ve exceeded our expectations. He has developed his social skills and looks forward to attending every day. It gives us such a comfort knowing he is happy, safe and well looked after.

A special thanks to his class teachers Shirin, Gurwinder, Chelsea and Polly for their kindness, care and support. Shout out to Simi, Jenna and whole team for their great communication skill and fantastic job and it really shows in the way the children grow and enjoy their time here.

Highly recommend to other families too.

## Frequently asked questions

##

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. [Click here to book a tour online.](/book-a-tour)

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

##

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

[Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.](/family-information/how-to-enrol)

##

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

[Learn more about our Settling-in Program.](/family-information/settling-in-program)

##

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

##

Pelican Childcare uses Xplor Home as our [family communication app](/family-information/family-communication). It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

##

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Pelican Childcare is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
